ANDARA: Rise for rebellion
Third person shooter
ANDARA: Rise for Rebellion is an arcade third-person shooter that takes inspiration from titles like DOOM and Returnal. The main focus of the game is to offer a thrilling combat, which is combined with exploration, platforming challenges and puzzles on the rocky planet Hailstone.
Game design
Co-designed all systems and mechanics along with two passionate colleagues.
Player & Enemy mechanics.
Systems: Gameplay mechanics, progresion curve, game loops.
Audio design, in collaboration with an international external audio team (Berklee Valencia).
UX / UI: Co-designing the game's HUD and taking into account game feel considerations to boost the game's quality.
Level design
I was coordinator of the Level Design area, being responsible for stablishing an effective and daily communication with the other departments, specially with Environmental Art.
My objective was to add a natural touch to the blocking to make it easier for my fellow artists to work with, but keep a minimalist approach so as not to affect performance.
As one of the 3 designers of the group, I developed the second level of the game, from pure layout to scripting and QA.
CREATIVE PROCESS
During preproduction, multiple references were collected through the app Miro.
In this way, ideas were accepted or discarded jointly, always according to the needs of the project, and leaving personal preferences in the background, which was a truly intense and educational experience.
